Pointers to the Reality of the God of the Bible

Problems for the idea that there is no God, or some other idea of ‘god’…

1. The World Around Us-

a. Irreducible Complexity- Life at the smallest levels has a complexity that does not fit the theory of evolution.

b. Intelligent Design- We and the world around us are designed in amazing ways which  suggest a Designer of great intelligence.

2. Justice-

a. Our common sense of ‘injustice’/‘not fair!’ points to a Source of justice outside us.

b. Ultimate Justice- It is a very sad world if some terrible crimes are never punished. The God of the Bible, the God of Perfect Justice, will ultimately deal with every crime with perfect Justice, with the appropriate punishment of the criminal, or the criminal allowing God Himself in Jesus to receive their punishment.

3. Love-

a. If life is totally explained by random evolutionary processes, love ultimately is nothing more than some chemical reactions.

b. We all have a desire to be loved with a love that is sure and unconditional. Only the God of the Bible and Jesus has such a love.

4. Meaning and Purpose-

a. What are you living for? What will be the ultimate result? Whatever you accomplish apart from God’s will will ultimately be worthless a thousand years from now.

b. We have fragmented lives and need a center for our identity in Someone bigger than ourselves.

Answers found only in the Bible, in Jesus…

5. The Bible-

a. There is much confusion about life, death, and ultimate realities. The Bible is God’s revelation to end our confusion and deal with our problems.

b. The Bible is a unique collection of writings by many authors at many different places and times, yet wonderfully connected together in a common story.

6. Fulfilled Prophecy-

a. The Bible includes many predictions of the future which have been proven by archaeology and other outside sources to have later come true.

b. Many of these prophecies were dramatically fulfilled in the person of Jesus.

7. Jesus-

a. Even Jesus’ enemies among the Jews and Romans of that time confirm the basic portrait of Jesus presented in the Gospels.

b. His claims about Himself, the quality of His life, His allowing Himself to be put to death, and the claims of His Resurrection after death to a new kind of life- all point to Him as the Truth.

8. The New Life of His people-

a. Changed lives from all ages, all nations and cultures, all experiences of life

b. My own story
